Have you noticed the new carpets at OBS?! These carpets are to encourage number play with students. Here, Ms. Thomas' class is investigating patterns on the carpet. Students recognized the multiples of 2, 3 & 5, in addition to, prime numbers.
In these pictures students are exploring their five senses with marshmallows in order to enhance their writing with imagery.
Ms. Thomas' resource group made gingerbread houses to reinforce the concepts of area and perimeter. Each student worked with a partner to draw a floor plan that did not exceed 432 squared centimeters. Then, partnerships drew the front and side views of their gingerbread house. Students had to make predictions about how many graham crackers they would use for the floor, walls, roof and extra supports. Once their gingerbread house was complete, students reflected on their learning and successes working with a partner.
